Jessie Kennedy was invited to give a talk and a tutorial at the international symposium, 'Understanding Cancer Genomics through Information Visualization’ at Tokyo University.

'Understanding Cancer Genomics through Information Visualization’ is an international symposium focusing on how information visualization approaches, methods and tools can be used in the understanding of cancer genomic data.

The symposium took place on February 22nd at the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Tokyo’s Shirokanedai Campus.

The tutorial , An Introduction to Biological Visualisation was given with Nils Gehlenborg, Harvard Medical School.

The talk, entitled User Centred Design in BioVis: a Case study, was based on experience in a recent project, VIPER, in collaboration with the Roslin Institute.

Prof. J Kennedy is General Co-Chair for BioVis a symposium of Vis a week long gathering of researchers in visualisation, including VAST, Vis and InfoVis.

This year Vis will be held in Atlanta, USA from 13-18th October.
