Abstract

The authors have applied the 3D FDTD technique to simulate the propagation of electrical signals on a microstrip antenna using a 4-transputer array connected to a 386-based PC.

This relates to work currently being carried out into the propagation of very high speed digital pulses in printed circuit boards in high bandwidth systems.

Methods have been devised by the authors which reduce the amount of stored data and improve run-time. These methods include sub-gridding, shielded volume and concurrent processing of the problem. Results have been obtained and are presented in this paper to show improved accuracy and decreased run-time.
