Professor Bill Buchanan has been analysing network connectivity around the World using the Akamai  State of The Internet report.

Overall he found that in Q4 of 2015, that the average Internet speed across the world is 5.6Mbps, with a yearly increase in speed of 23% (and a quarterly increase of 8.6%). So the Internet is speeding up, as it scope spreads across many application areas.

He also has found that the UK is not keeping up with the rest of the world with its increases in average speeds, and with poor page download responses for both fixed and mobile networks.

He found that the highest performing nation for Internet connectivity was South Korea, and where there was excellent performance from the Netherlands, Japan, Denmark and Norway.
