Payfont and Edinburgh Napier University have been collaborating through a SFC-funded Innovation Voucher, and which has now led to the award of a SMART R&D grant for Payfont, of which Edinburgh Napier will play a key part in integrating advanced cryptography methods.

The new work, rated as 4/4 for innovation by patent assessors, will involve the implementation of an infrastrucure of crypto shares, where no message in the system can be decrypted, unless all the required shares can be brought together in the right way.

The new collaboration highlights the success of the Innovation Voucher scheme in Scotland, which allows SMEs to fully develop their innovations with academics, along with generating new ideas for innovations.
