University to Host Major Cloud Conference (Scot-Cloud)

Edinburgh Napier University will be hosting a major conference on Cloud Systems on 18 June 2014 at the Craiglockhart Campus, Edinburgh.

Prof Bill Buchanan outlines that "It aims to bring together the leaders within industry and the public sector, in order to discuss the challenges and opportunities of  Cloud-based systems in Scotland. This event also follows several dissemination events that we have hosted over the past few years, including the Christmas Cyber Seminars and ones related to the integration of IT into Health and Social Care. For our research, we have tried to innovative over the past few years within Cloud-based systems, this includes building innovative teaching infrastructure, and also in creating IT architectures which are secure, and which also bring benefits to health and social in Scotland. We are thus keen to discuss different viewpoints with the leaders in this area."

Recent IDC research shows that revenue for public and private cloud servers will increase at an annual growth rate of 16.6%, generating £7.0 billion in 2016. And a recent Gartner report predicts that the volume of enterprise data overall will increase by a phenomenal 650% over the next five years.

It is hosted by Edinburgh Napier University & Scot-Tech Engagement and supported by ScotlandIS and the Cloud Security Alliance. The event will be offering a selection of technical and strategic breakout sessions, General Sessions, Industry Keynotes, and an Expo floor so that as a delegate you can kick the tyres of solutions and offerings, and discuss one-on-one with all the leading Cloud players what they are offering and how to make use of it in your particular situation.
