An Introduction to the Cloud Security Alliance and its EU FP7 Research Projects

John Howie is Chief Operating Officer of the Cloud Security Alliance and a Visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Computing

The Cloud Security Alliance is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote best practices and spread industry-wide education on security assurance within Cloud Computing. The CSA is led by a broad coalition of industry practitioners, corporations, consumers, associations and other key stakeholders and serves as an incubator for international cloud standards.  CSA’s ever- expanding research and initiatives provide the industry with critical resources such as the Security Guidance and GRC Stack papers, Cloud Controls Matrix, CCSK training and certification, and the publicly accessible registry, CSA STAR. The CSA is working on several EU FP7 Research Projects, and recently entered into an agreement to fund a PhD Student in the School of Computing. In this presentation John Howie, Chief Operating Officer and Visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier, will provide an overview of the Cloud Security Alliance as well as the research projects it is currently working on.
