interaction design ()

Areas of Expertise

Future Interactions
Expressive interaction describes the range of new forms of human-computer interaction that are made available through technologies based on speech, touch and gesture. The opportunities presented by these developments promise to be far-reaching, enabling new forms of interaction with information...

Projects

UrbanIxD
The UrbanIxD Cordination Action project will define and consolidate a coherent research community working in the domain of technologically augmented, data-rich urban environments; with particular focus on the human activities, experiences and behaviours
Exploring the use of mobile based Augmented Reality (AR) for deployment in real world situations.
IIDI is working by Freak Marketing supported by the BIE Innovation Fund.
QR technology and visitor experience
IIDI has been successful in obtaining funding for a new collaborative project with 21Nine Advertising & Design Ltd supported by the SFC Innovation Voucher Scheme.
City of Literature
The aim of this project is to develop a iPhone app and digital strategy for UNESCO Edinburgh City of Literature. The app will provide a guided set of literary trails through Edinburgh based on people such as Robert Louis Stevenson showing the places that he wrote about.
How do we deal with yet another device? How does technology mediate our dealings with other people? When are such mediations welcome, and when are they just annoying? How do we feel about things that think, and spaces that sense? The new field of interaction design explores these concerns.
CEC Libraries
Edinburgh Napier University's Centre for Interaction Design are working with Edinburgh Central Library to provide a new digital information guide for its visitors. The guide is an intuitive, large screen, multi-touch based interface to the extensive services, events and collections the library...
Mobile Application Development in relation to socio linguistic analysis
IIDI is working with ChatCloud supported by the BIE Innovation Voucher scheme.
IIDI & Jupiter Artland Foundation
IIDI has been successful in obtaining funding for a new collaborative project with Jupiter Artland Foundation http://www.jupiterartland.org/
