Scottish Seabird Centre - An unforgettable experience
The Business Challenge
The Scottish Seabird Centre is one of Scotland’s 5 star visitor attractions, yet their website was nearly five years old and really didn’t reflect the wide range of activities the Centre was involved in. With high profile environmental projects, a state of the art discovery centre and full multi media facilities and webcams, they were not promoting the Centre to its full potential online. Marketing Manager Lynda Dalgleish was determined to attract a wider customer base, especially families and overseas visitors.
Ironically the content of the old website was superb, it was the way in which it was presented that let the organisation down. By redefining the call to action of the site and working with a creative designer the online brand was re-established, truly representing the professionalism of the Centre activities.
The work of the adviser continued with a review of internal systems, hardware and our operating processes, as a result we have installed a new IT infrastructure, collated our databases and undertaken search engine optimisation activities.
The site is now more user friendly, visitor numbers have increased, we have a robust and scaleable platform to continue to promote the facilities and environment work we undertake
“We needed someone to challenge our existing strategies, and to advise us on appropriate technologies yet understand the financial restrictions of being a registered charity. The wide range of skills our ebusiness adviser brought to the project was extremely valuable.” said Lynda. “ he introduced us to a local web developer who wanted to help us build the Seabird centre brand online, both of them clearly focussed on the business benefits from improving the web presence and to the possibilities for the future.”
